Taking the ferry to Crete<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the crossing from Athens to Crete we had chosen the cheapest ferry to Chania<\/strong> The ferry left the port of Piraeus at 9:30 p.m. and was supposed to drop us off on the island 9 hours later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just finding the right departure point at the port was a task for us, because google maps first led us to a completely different area and when we arrived at the port terminal, the signs there were very misleading. In addition, our tickets said \u201cPier 2\u201d, but our ship was docked at \u201cPier 1\u201d. After a few inquiries we finally found our ship and were able to get on board two hours before departure. At boarding we got our temperature measured and had to fill out a questionnaire that included questions about our state of health but also about our past whereabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had public spaces and no cabin, but there were only a handful of other travelers in the public area, so we could make us some space nicely. Tomek lay down over three seats and was therefore quite comfortable. I, on the other hand, couldn't lie down because I felt sick immediately. But at some point I also fell asleep while sitting. The journey passed quickly, even if I couldn't really sleep through it. And so we reached Crete at 6:30 a.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
