The journey to Cape Kolka<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cape Kolka\" is the northernmost point of the Kurland Peninsula. There the Gulf of Riga meets the Baltic Sea. The most distinctive cape on the coast of Latvia is about 4 hours away from Riga by bus and was our second destination in Latvia. We stayed overnight in the village Kolka<\/strong>, which is about 2km away from the cape. The bus ride was, again, very cheap (for both of us a total of 12,70\u20ac), but for the first time we also had to pay a luggage fee of 2,60\u20ac for our big backpacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our experience in Kolka<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the village of Kolka itself there is really absolutely nothing going on, there are only about 750 inhabitants and the buses do not run very regularly. But its said that for summer it is a popular destination and like a local explained to us, it is quite crowded, especially on the weekends. So it was very difficult to find a good and cheap accommodation as spontaneously as we are. We decided to stay in a guesthouse, which was one of the most expensive on our whole trip. We had a small comfortable room with wood paneling, but we shared the bathroom with six other rooms. The kitchen was not available for use in the summer, so we had to ask the landlady for every plate and every glass. But we had planned to stay there only for two nights anyway. On the day of arrival we used the remaining hours of sunshine and had a look at the beach directly in the village. It was really quiet there and there were hardly any other visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
